Everyone Can't Be in Your Front Row!!

I first heard this poem in 2007 at a women's retreat where I was the invited guest performer. It jarred me in a way that was so critical at the time because I was going through a cleaning/cleansing of my space, and I felt reaffirmed that I was indeed on the right path. The thing I've learned about clutter, however, is that even if you clean it up, it does you no good if you let it get messy again. With that being said, I decided to remind myself, as I'm branching back into the world of entertainment, to be selective when inviting people into my space. I encourage you to read the below and evaluate your current space and the people you've allowed to occupy it with you!! Happy Cleaning People!!

~~~~~
Life is a theater so invite your audiences carefully. Not everyone is holy enough and healthy enough to have a FRONT ROW seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.
It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships, friendships, fellowships and family!
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.
Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention to: Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are just going downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know and appreciate you and the gift that lies within you?
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.
The more you seek God and the things of God, the more you seek quality, the more you seek not just the hand of God but the face of God, the more you seek things honorable, the more you seek growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.
You cannot change the people around you...but you can change the people you are around!
Ask God for wisdom and discernment and choose wisely the people who sit in the FRONT ROW of your life.
Remember that FRONT ROW seats are for special and deserving people and those who sit in your FRONT ROW should be chosen carefully.
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW
Obesity and Black Women...Viewed after I talked myself out of getting on the treadmill...
People are somethin' else I tell ya...
Excerpt from Obama's Press Conference Stirs the Buzz
by Mike Krumboltz
'After an uncharacteristic gaffe on 'The Tonight Show' and an unfortunate case of the giggles on '60 Minutes,' President Obama had a lot riding on his Tuesday night press conference. The president largely stayed on message, using the hour to focus on the economy, the budget, and his anger (even if was delayed) at those darn AIG bonuses.
The buzziest moment came about 35 minutes into the press conference when Ed Henry of CNN asked the President why he didn't spew outrage as soon as he learned about the AIG bonuses. Why, Mr. Henry asked, did the president wait several days before speaking out? The president, with an icy stare, responded that he "likes to know what he's talking about" before he speaks. It was a pretty testy exchange that brought about nervous laughter from the other reporters and snarky responses from Twitterers. Boom! Next question.'
That's right Obama...don't let these jive turkeys (had to go old black man on 'em) try to roust you. They're waiting for you to mess up, microscope...check; recorder...check; spreadsheet with strategic questions to try and make him fumble...check!! Hell-to-the-nah!! Barack is not an idiot people, so he's chooses to...no he NEEDS TO take his time when responding to issues. Don't get me wrong, we all know that time is of the essence, especially with impatient Americans who seem to have nothing better to do with their time these days than make comic strips, book displays and other miscellaneous paraphernalia of monkeys juxtaposed with black figures (get over it already you poor sports), but at least allow the man a moment to process the million topics circulating around this crazy world that all require his attention. Allow him the chance to come to us with some shit that actually makes sense...you know, some actual solution for a problem type shit...some actual work smarter, not harder type shit!! We don't need someone to tell us incompetently what they think we wanna hear...been there, done that...remember the last two terms you hypocrites!?
Anyhew...Chin up Barack...great comeback...that's what my mama likes to call being "Nice-Nasty"!! Rumble young man rumble!!
"Hey Luv Muffins...It's B. Scott"
LMMFAO!! Just when you think my man B. Scott can't possibly top himself anymore, he comes with this!! You know I love ya man...
WTF!?
I'm so confused and disturbed by this video!! I'm actually speechless...and it ain't an easy feat for something to make me speechless...
FIERCE!!
I wanna be like her when I grow up...!!
Black Love!?!?!?
Wayna, for those who don't know, is an Ethiopian bred songstress who will soon be a force to be reckoned with!! Her first single "My Love" makes me think of my past...it makes me think of women who are silent AND....drumroll...Rhianna and Chis Brown...HOT DAMN!!
Whatever, yeah I went there because in all honesty, too many "cute and personable men" get away with this shit because no one wants to believe that they are capable of violence!! BULL SHIT!! Don't get it twisted!! Why is it that people don't want to believe that fat meat is greasy!? It is what it is and when someone shows you who they are...believe them!! (shout out to Maya Angelou) Anyhew...
I'm disappointed in Rhianna, yet understanding in the same breath! I know how something can look like Candyland on the outside and be the story of Hansel and Gretel behind closed doors!! We are all public figures, whether we be famous or not...someone is looking at us...someone is watching us...someone is looking up to us, so what kind of example are we setting for our little girls? And brothas, if you won't admit your faults, what are you really teaching our little boys?
Accept the responsibility that comes along with the smiles and winks you get on the regular!! If you want to be loved in public, you gotta be willing to be judged in public!! Don't just show the biscuit without showing the jelly and the butter.
I pray that more women will "press charges" and I pray that more men will "think it through" beforehand...better yet, before hands are laid.
Black Men, we (I) love you so much....your women need you so much, so don't fight the very people/person(s) who want to push you (not physically) to greatness!!
I'mma A Diva!!
Okay, so I know people either love Beyonce or cain't stand the chick, but I gotta give the gurrrl credit for this one!! To me, Beyonce says out loud the shit you really wanna say, but choose not to because you're just not sure how people will take it! Well this album falls right in line with how Scorpio Blues is feeling these days...from Diva to Ego, to Halo, to Hello and Smash Into You; this album is beautifully all over the place!! And anyone who knows me...knows that I'm a fan of "all over the place"!!
Beyonce gets a BLUE STRUT for this one!!
Work Gurrrrrrrrrrrl!!
Formula
So I’m convinced…
There has to be a formula…
And I pray that God will whisper to me the method.
The equation to solve my question of how to keep him safe…?
How to prevent him from becoming another statistic
I’m trying to be both realistic and optimistic
And I know that there has to be formula!!
One that he can digest with ease
So that my explanation for it can actually be received
The best thing I’ve done to date…
The most beautiful work I’ve ever written…
Speaks back to me in tongues, spit bubbles and coos
And so I write more haikus than ever before so that he knows, as plain as day, that I hear him loud and clearly
“Baby you are fresh
Never thought I’d be this dope
So for that, thank you”
His tiny hands grip any finger placed in front of him…
But how do I teach him that every finger offered should not be taken?
I don’t want him to be anti-social
Yet I know all too well the cost of being social
So I pray God that there really is a formula…
See my milk has dried from lack of expression and excess stressin’
Yet my son still needs to be fed!!
And when it comes to raising children, everyone needs a hand every now and then
Already trying so hard to protect him from the elements, yet I’m still wanting him to splash the water every now and again
So again…
I know that there has to be a formula…
One that can keep him satiated!!
One that can keep him elevated!!
The topic alone has me agitated!!
But I am too educated…
His father is far too educated…
Yet we are both stumped!!
Back in school again
Starring at chalk boys
I mean chalk boards
Trying to reconfigure the numbers
“If I take away that 16 year old murdered boy and add that 6 month old deceased baby…”
Oh Hell Nah, this shit does not add up properly!!
I look at him and want him to grow up properly
I want him to grow up healthy and honestly…
And in all honesty…
I don’t want to hear from someone who doesn’t have children telling me what they think it would feel like to lose one.
Cause you don’t know what you’re talking about,
So please revamp what you just spat about and adjust the way Oscar Grant’s name just left your mouth
This ain’t slam gritty
It ain’t open mic pretty
But its reality nonetheless
Ever had somebody else relying on the beat of your chest to take their pain away?
Nah, death is not an option!!
Cause I can see him grown-man-turned-father and I need to be able to one day say thank you!!
See although my milk has dried from lack of expression and excess stressin’
My son still needs to be fed!!
I am more optimistic these days...
And I am thankful with every waking day…
Because I give you my word that if a formula doesn’t already exist for him...then God has no choice but to Bless the child whose mama is determined to create him his own…
